Dr Georges Duponcheele co-founded in July 2017 Aestimo Technologies Limited.
He is Co-Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer, in charge of the design of the Quantitative Process and its algorithmic implementation. He is also the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Aestimo Technologies Luxembourg Fund S.A. SICAV-RAIF.
In 2016, Georges founded FinTech InsurTech Solutions Limited, a consultancy and software firm to develop Big Data algorithmic solutions with a focus on the Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) credit space. He then expanded the algorithmic approaches to develop innovative investment strategies in the listed equity space, now used by Aestimo Technologies.
Prior to 2016, Georges’ banking career spanned 20 years at BNP Paribas leveraging IT to deliver leading edge solutions in his successive positions.
In 1997, he joined the Paribas IT department supporting foreign exchange trading systems. Two years later, Georges was appointed to the Internal Control Department to introduce algorithmic techniques to detect unusual trade patterns. He was promoted to head Internal Audit for Corporate and Investment Banking Paris and then for all BNP Paribas UK activities.
In 2002, Georges moved to the Asset Securitisation Group to head the modelling team and then the Product Development and Quantitative Structuring team. Among other things, he worked on hedge fund performance research and replication, and financing solutions for funds of hedge funds.
From 2010, Georges focused on bank deleveraging activities and published extensively on the design and calibration of new bank regulatory capital framework. He notably led the development of the “Arbitrage-Free Approach” with a group of quantitative experts in 2013. It is a new principles-based mathematical risk model, using a new notion (the conditional asset pool correlation), widely recognised by the industry and by regulators as a key contribution to the design of new Basel bank capital standards to help securitisation finance the real economy.
Georges graduated from Ecole Centrale Paris as an engineer with a specialisation in Innovation, Design and Manufacturing. He further completed a PhD in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Bath exploring the “Use of Genetic Algorithms in Shape Optimisation”. Georges returns regularly to Bath as a guest speaker in financial accounting for engineers.
Georges is a French, Belgian and British citizen.
